Stacia Nelson, Founder & CEO
Stacia Nelson is the Founder and Principal. Stacia brings over 15 years of experience in Public Relations and Communications with Fortune 100 brands. She specializes in creating unique and tailored communications strategies to deliver messages to a variety of stakeholders. She has worked in retail, healthcare, manufacturing, and politics covering topics ranging from global security, crisis management, recalls, sourcing, sustainability, government relations, new product launches, brand marketing and strategic partnerships.
Prior to founding Pivot Strategies, Stacia led the Crisis and Corporate Communications Team for Target Corporation where she was responsible for the company’s preparedness and response to reputation and crisis situations and corporate brand partnerships. Prior to Target, Stacia led the Public Relations and Strategic Partnerships team at Cambria and was the Director of Education & Workforce Development and Healthcare Policy at the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.
Stacia earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Psychology and Spanish from Hamline University and a Master of Public Policy in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota. Stacia lives in Minneapolis with her husband and daughter.
Angie Butterbrodt, Director of Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility
Angie Butterbrodt has 15 years of experience building communications strategies, engaging key stakeholders and managing corporate reputation across the legal, food and agriculture, and retail industries including Target Corporation, Land O’Lakes, and Thomson Reuters. She’s known for leading complex projects, fostering collaboration, putting ideas into action and managing flawless execution.
Most recently, Angie managed communications and public affairs at Target Corporation, supporting corporate social responsibility, issues management, and public policy initiatives. She also led Target’s CSR communications efforts, including advising on social and environmental reporting, and producing Target’s CSR report.
Angie studied English at St. Catherine University. She lives in St. Paul, Minn., with her husband and two young daughters.
Bonnie Coyer, Creative Manager
Bonnie Coyer brings 10 years of experience in communications and graphic design in the non-profit and private sector. She specializes in organizational processes, project management, and creating designs that are clear, concise, and professional. She has worked on everything from large scale branding and re-branding initiatives to designing brochures and handouts for local events, both in print and digital mediums. She enjoys being able to create and share stories through creative media and consistent, effective communication. Bonnie is expanding her expertise in public relations and writing.
Bonnie received a BA from Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. She resides in the Twin Cities with her husband and three children.
Kari Martinez, Organizational Change Management Communications, Senior Consultant
Kari Martinez has been passionately engaging and inspiring action from a variety of audiences for more than 20 years through Marketing and Corporate Communications. Kari is known for bringing her broad experience and business acumen to the organizational change management needs of an organization, as well as well-planned and flawlessly-executed communications to support the initiative at hand—always striving to help the project team deliver exceptional results on time and on budget. Kari brings experience in large, complex companies such as General Mills, 3M and Ecolab.
Kari began her career as a graphic designer and therefore brings an eye for esthetics and on-brand execution to the work. To feed her passion for helping organizations continuously improve their business and employee satisfaction, she completed a degree in Organizational Leadership at Bethel University, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Kari also holds a Prosci Change Management Practitioner certification.
Leonard Pesheck, Communications & Marketing, Senior Consultant
Leonard Pesheck has over 20 years of experience in marketing, public relations and communications at global corporations including Lucent and Nokia. His background has ranged from Product Marketing, Media & Analyst Relations, International Markets Manager to Director of Communications supporting clients in telecommunications, wireless, technology, regional sales, internet and IT.
Leonard received a BA from Augsburg College and an MBA from the American University in Washington DC. He resides in the Twin Cities with his wife and two sons.
Mariah began collaborating with Pivot Strategies in June 2015. She provides writing and communication services. Mariah previously worked for Target Corporation where she was responsible for internal communications. She has more than 15 years of experience delivering top-notch communications for companies such as the University of Minnesota, Fairview Health Services and Target Corporation. Mariah earned a Master of Arts degree in health communications and a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota. She lives in the Twin Cities with her husband and three children.
Lynnette specializes in sustainability communications, strategy, thought leadership, and stakeholder engagement. She teaches for Boston College’s Center for Corporate Citizenship and is a Senior Fellow of Social Innovation at Babson College’s Lewis Center. As a certified Global Reporting Initiative trainer, she teaches sustainability reporting (materiality, stakeholder engagement and GRI G4) for Boston College. Lynnette spent 17 years at UPS, managing Global Reputation Management, Sustainability Communications, Executive Communications and Public Relations programs. Before joining UPS, Lynnette began her career as a journalist and managed marketing and employee communications for FedEx in the Asia Pacific Region. She spent more than a decade with global public relations agencies, posted in Bangkok, Hong Kong, and around the U.S.
Emily has a passion for organizing and executing on-the-ground grassroots campaigns. A recent example is work she did on From messaging, identifying influencers and implementing strategy, Emily guides clients through the public affairs landscape. In addition, she develops and implements messaging strategies and provides media relations to a wide-range of clients. Emily is a licensed Minnesota attorney, residing in Mendota Heights with her husband and two children.
Chris is a strategic marketing and communications Consultant. After more than a decade of fast-paced, 60-hour workweeks as a broadcast media marketer, Chris switchedgears. A strategic storyteller and passionate visual artist, Chris works closely with organizations to understand, articulate, illustrate and elevate their brand stories. Areas of expertise include content development/strategy, copywriting, blogging, ghostwriting, technical writing, graphic design, social media/web graphics, branding, experiential marketing and event partnerships. Chris’ portfolio includes projects in economic development, education/museums, entertainment, financial services, food/beverage, health/wellness, professional services and science/technology. She is particularly passionate about working with women- and minority-owned/led businesses, and nonprofits focused on equality, education and economic empowerment.
